Mouth-Watering Steak Marinade
The last marinade recipe you'll EVER need!
I'm about to reveal to you the secret to creating the most succulent, mouth-watering steak you've ever tasted. Consider yourself warned: this isn't your average marinade. Not by any means. If you're a steak lover, this marinade will heighten all of your senses with just one taste. Close your eyes, open your mouth, and let the fireworks begin.
Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the recipe, either; the ingredients come together to create a flavour so powerful... it will have your taste buds dancing the tango. So if you think you can handle the awesome power I'm about to bestow upon you - the power to impress anyone with a steak unlike anything they've ever tasted (seriously, I've converted vegetarians with this baby) - then read on, my friend, to the list of ingredients.
The Magic Ingredients
Eye of newt, wing of bat... just kidding.
These amounts are for two average-sized steaks; adjust up or down as necessary.
- 1/4 cup worchestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup soy or teriyaki sauce (salty vs sweet flavour, it's a matter of preference)
- 1 teaspoon dijon mustard (substitute in regular mustard if you really must)
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Black pepper, to taste
- Hot sauce, to taste (This is the key! I recommend a habanero-based hot sauce, the flavour is just unbeatable)
Time to make it all happen!
Step 1
Add all of the ingredients in any order to a bowl and whisk them together thoroughly... get that mustard to dissolve completely. Congrats, you're finished step one!
Step 2
Using a fork, pierce many holes on both sides of each steak. This is an important step. The steaks will absorb the flavours and juices much better if they have a place to soak them up. On to step three!
Step 3
Insert the steaks into an air-tight freezer bag (much easier than a dish or tray) and pour in the marinade. Stick it the fridge for at least two hours; I recommend four to six. Trust me... it's well worth the wait.
Step 4
Remove the steaks from the fridge and sit them on the counter until they return to room temperature (or at least close). This is another key step; you'll get the most out of the marinade if you let the steaks thaw out a bit before slapping them on the grill.
Step 5
Grill those babies up! Not sure how? Take a look at this webpage, in combination with this lens, as the ideal way to see your steaks through from deli to dinner table.
Step 6
Enjoy! And I mean enjoy. Take the time to savour the first bite you put in your mouth, taste the way the flavours play off of each other... after your first bite, hopefully you'll be coming back for more!
Of course, if you'd just like to comment on the lens itself, I'd love to hear your feedback! Thanks so much!
